We covered 15 viral online campaigns and posts that occurred during the first half of the year. It’s time to take a look at the rest of the year. Let’s recap!
1. Always’s #LikeAGirl:
Girls, do you feel ashamed when someone says “You do it like a girl”? You shouldn’t. Always addressed the issue like no one did. They understand how hard it hits a girl’s confidence, when someone stereotypes her. Lauren Greenfield created this amazing campaign to raise awareness on women self-esteem.
The video got 53 million views so far on YouTube. Indeed a great initiative by Always that says doing something like a girl should not sound as an insult. If you haven’t watched the video yet, watch now.
2. Pantene’s ‘Not Sorry’ campaign:
Why do women say sorry, always, no matter if it’s her fault or not? Pantene says, “Sure, it's polite to say "sorry" sometimes. But for everything? No way.” That’s the reason that they created the campaign to break the block that women set up around them.
The video got more than 15 million YouTube views. They also came up with an interesting hashtag #ShineStrong to promote the campaign on different social networks.
3. BuzzFeedYellow put makeup on men:
Boys, would you try putting some makeup on to look like a girl? Probably no! But these guys are brave enough to show their feminine side to the world. Buzz Feed Yellow always comes up with unique concepts to turn around regular day to day affairs to something crazy and different.
The video racked more than 7 million views up on YouTube. Finally you realized why women take so much time to put on makeup perfectly! Huh?
4. When Kim posed for Paper magazine, some guys follow suit:
Kim Kardashian truly believes in the notion “If you have it, flaunt it”. That’s the reason that she went bare back for a Paper Magazine shoot. She herself posted one of the images of the photoshoot on Instagram.
Look at the number of Likes it got on the network. But that’s not the one that went viral. If you missed it, here is a weird version, recreated by a couple of men. Let’s laugh together.

Hmmm... Now you know how much courage it takes to do something like that. Don’t you? The video got over 4 million YouTube videos.
5. Harry Potter raps too!
Have you heard Daniel Radcliffe rap? You sure would miss something, if you don’t.
He appeared at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in this October and the rest is history! He is a multi-talented kid, indeed!
7. #Hokkolorob
Hok Kolorob (Let there be noise) is a Jadavpur University, Kolkata, student movement, popularly known for the hashtag #HokKolorob, used by the protestants. It’s an ongoing movement that started on September 3, 2014.
The protest was shown mainly on social media. Thousands of protestants replaced their cover picture with the above image. The protest was so huge and widespread that Mashable covered it. Followed by that, it came into international limelight.
8. KitKat’s #Bendgate
Some people were talking about how iPhone 6 was bending in their pockets on Twitter and KitKat jumped in with their #bendgate campaign. And that’s pretty much the history behind one of the most viral campaigns of the year.

They came up with the creative within just 30 minutes since the chatter around iphone6 started. Within 10 minutes, the tweet got RTed 100 times and an hour later it got 1,000 RTs.
9. Pepsi launched Max
Pepsi thought to launch their new drink, Pepsi Max in a unique fashion. They created a scary setup in a tunnel of UK using advanced technology. The campaign is being promoted with the #LiveForNow with Pepsi Max.
The video got more than 4 million views on YouTube. As the tagline of the campaign goes, “Maximum impact. No worries. Maximum effect. No sugar”, the video too shows off extreme effects.
10. #IceBucketChallenge
Ice Bucket Challenge is probably the most viral campaign of the year. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and fund for ALS Association. The drill is, a person needs to pour ice water on himself and then nominate three people to do the same. If someone does not take the challenge even after being nominated, he needs to give away some money to the association.
The campaign went viral on social media. Hundreds of celebs took on the challenge for fun and donated huge money to the fund. So far it raised over $100 million.
11. John Lewis’s Christmas message with Monty, the penguin:
For kids, their toys are nothing less than their true playmates. But when they grow up, they tend to forget their childhood companions and move on with life. The spot shows a kid playing with his toy penguin like a real friend and getting the best present for it on Christmas.
John Lewis perfectly adorned the campaign with the tagline, “Give someone the Christmas, they’ve been dreaming of”. Isn’t it the perfect message for a Christmas campaign? The video got more than 20 million views so far.
12. 10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman
A woman roamed around various streets of Manhattan silently for 10 hours wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt. And she faced over 100 verbal street harassments, excluding winks and whistles.
It’s definitely an eye-opening data! The campaign was backed by Hollaback to raise awareness against street harassment. The video was published in the month of October and it already racked up more than 38 million YouTube views so far. With so many views, it also secured its position in Google top 10 YouTube videos of 2014.
