What is Hashtags?
Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context to tweets. They're added inline to any twitter post.
Why Hashtags?
Hashtags were developed as a means to create "groupings" on Twitter, without having to change the basic service. Twitter provides real-time tracking of hashtags. How To Use Hashtags? We can create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: example #techshu.
Use of Hashtags?
Hashtags were popularized during the San Diego forest fires in 2007 when Nate Ritter used the hashtag "#sandiegofire" to identify his updates related to the disaster. Now days we can find hashtags for almost every event and news. Twitter publicize the top trending hashtag at the right sidebar. Hashtags are very useful in tracking any event and also responsible for making any event viral overnight, recently hashtag #Govind Tiwari made an unknown guy from Allahabad (UP, India) overnight world phenomenon, when everybody wants to know "who the hell is #Govind Tiwari?".
